MY BELOVED
Beloved, The day belongs to you. I salute you this day. I edify YOU. Your debut, essence, design.
I still remember the day we met. We collided on Houston Street in Victory Park. My friend had previously told us we’d be a power couple… At that comment, you and I both immediately suggested she put the brakes on and give us the opportunity to meet. Since at that very moment we had never even talked.
You are a man after God’s heart. You hate the things he hates. You love the things he loves. You do the right thing. You are one of the most humble, loving, faithful and caring people I know. You are one of those rare humans who can get along with anyone. I struggle from time-to-time to find common ground with certain folks, you do so with grace. You my dear, have mastered the art of people. We are told no one is perfect but you are as close to perfect as one may come.
You are hasty at forgiving and never hold grudges. You’re a leader and your entire household look up to you. When we brought our son home from the hospital you were so determined to be the best father. You had no clue how you’d do, growing up fatherless. You slipped right into your role and my dear, have mastered another task. I feel so relieved and proud knowing you are there for and with me.
You are an excellent communicator. I know I tell you at times you’re a chatter box, but people listen intensively to you and hang on to your every word.
You are wise and have excellent understanding. Unlike me, you think things out fully before talking. Your cynosure is appealing and you never take matters too seriously. You relentlessly give people ‘the benefit of the doubt’ and your glass is forever full.
Honey you are a blessing to all who know you! You are everything I prayed for… As you know, I was extremely specific in my prayers for you. However, God exceeded everything I asked for all those years in my prayer closet.
I promise to love you, submit to you, cover you in prayer and to be faithful to you for as long as we both shall live. To quote the lyrics of the 1929 Cream in my coffee:
You’re the cream in my coffee
You’re the salt in my stew
You will always be my necessity
I’d be lost without you
You’re the starch in my collar
You’re the lace in my shoe
You will always be my necessity
I’d be lost without you
Now most men tell love tails
And each phrase dovetails
You’ve heard each known way
This way is my own way, dear
You’re the sail in my love boat
You’re the captain and crew
You will always be my necessity
I’d be lost without you
Now most men tell love tails
And each phrase dovetails
You’ve heard each known way
This way is my own way, dear
You’re the sail in my love boat
You’re the captain and crew
You will always be my necessity
I’d be lost without you
Love,
Your Dreamgirl-
