Why you should Anoint Your Home
Anointing your home should be a priority if you’re a believer in Jesus. It is not a ritual or good works. It’s simply, a symbol of our faith as a believer. When we anoint our homes, we’re openly confessing our faith in our home that “ As for me and my family, we will serve the LORD” Joshua 24:15. This invites the presence of the LORD, declares peace, and is followed by prayer to GOD, along with declaring scripture over our lives. Psalm 91, is a great Psalm to declare as you set your home, your family apart exclusively for Jesus Christ. We dab anointing oil on our finger, smear it on every door frame of our home. You can use olive oil. I usually pray over my oil before before dabbing it on my door frames. This is an act of consecration, committing our home, ourselves, and our families as children of the most Holy GOD. As we smear the oil in our home, we are standing in agreement with Exodus 12:17. The Israelite’s marked their doorpost with blood of the Passover Lamb, in obedience to the Lord’s order to invite the Lord into their home to protect and preserve them from the evil plows of destruction that plagues the world.
Some anoint their home only one time. I anoint weekly, inviting the LORD’S presence and reminding myself and my family of God’s presence of protection.
Steps to anointing:
Turn on your favorite worship song that’s all about GOD. Worship GOD.
Repent.
Pray.
Grab your oil and walk through your home, dabbing lightly oil on each of your door post (some dab oil, writing a cross but that’s not necessary) while praying Psalm 91, inviting God’s presence and protection believing with no doubt in GOD’S covering. As you dab, as GOD to protect each family member by name. Declare they will walk in righteousness as they were given when they confessed their faith in JESUS.
Thank GOD for allowing you to partner with Him by faith and protecting your family ending with Amen, which means it is so!
That’s it folks. It’s just that simple.
Shalom,
