Pray This Prayer Before Reading The Bible

The Bible is God’s love letters to us. It is our personal manual for living life. Although some argue men wrote the Bible, why should we trust the Bible. We should trust the Bible as there was nothing written in the Bible unless God wanted it to be included. Every word in the Bible was ordained by God. Scripture tells us “all scripture is given by an inspiration to God and is profitable for doctrine, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:6). God loves us so much He wanted to ensure we could safely navigate this world by giving us advice on how to live effectively, efficiently, spiritually, mentally, and prosper financially. We must trust the Bible is God’s instructions for living by faith as God told us to. Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). We are commissioned to trust God because of who HE is by walking in honor of Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

From personal experience, by reading the Bible and building a personal disciplined relationship with the Lord, my entire life has been forever transformed. I pray my love for God’s word will be honored, treasured, and passioned by my children to a thousand generation.

Below is the prayer I pray daily before reading the Bible which is entirely scripture based. This type of learning is not for people who are looking to pray and read by checking a box off of their “to do list”, this is for people are ready to go deeper in the word of God. It’s for those who no longer crave milk (1 Peter 2:2), like a baby but those who are craving “top sirloin steak”, those who are ready to surrender completely to God by hearing the Lord’s deepest secrets.
By Praying God’s words back to Him before I begin Bible reading, the Holy Spirit enlightens me as well as teaches me secrets I could never explain as they are many. I encourage you to pray them while being vigilant how your life will change as you receive divine revelation and instruction to live a prosperous life in every area of your life.

PRAYER BEFORE READING THE BIBLE

Holy Spirit infill me. “Pour out your spirit on me, make your words known to me Father. Teach me O Lord , the way of your statues, and I shall keep it to the end, Give me understanding and I shall keep your law; indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me walk in the path of your commandements, for I delight in it, revive me in your way. Establish your word to your servant, who is devoted to fearing you (Psalm 119:33-38). Speak to me, for your servant is listening (1 Samuel 3:9). Give me wisdom. Remember your word to your servant, upon which you have caused me to hope (Psalm 119: 49). Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderous things out of your law (Psalm 119:18). Change me into who you want me to be. Remove this calloused heart, put a new spirit in me, give me a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). Create in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit with me (Psalm 51:10). May this Bible not depart from my mouth and may I meditate on it day and night to observe to do all that is written in it. And then my way will be prosperous, I will have good success (Joshua 1:8). May I be strong and of good courage and not afraid or dismayed for you are with me wherever I go (Joshual 1:9). May I be strong in you LORD, in your strength and in your power. May I take up the whole armor of God so I can withstand in the evil day (Ephesians 6). I can do all thing because you give me strength (Philippians 4:13). May I trust in your Lord with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge you in all my ways so you may direct my path (Proverbs 3:5-6). May I perceive the authority I have to speak things that are not as though they are (Romans 4:17). May I comprehend, I create my world by my words and thoughts as death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who use them, eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21; Job 3:25). Establish my thoughts as I commit my works to you Heavenly Father (Proverbs 16:3). May I not interpret your word in error (2 Corinthians 4:2). Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light in my pathway (Psalm 119:105). May I realize, I am armed and extremely dangerous as I’m equipping myself with the armor of you LORD (Ephesians 6:11). No weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). As if you are for me, who can be against me (Romans 8:31). For greater is He that’s in me then he that’s in this world (1 John 4:4). Holy Spirit teach me all things (John 14:26). In Jesus’s name. Amen.
